Welcome to The Road Penn Traveled.
At Penn, travel fever is rampant. From classes to summer internships to clubs to every single break imaginable, travel is everywhere. Even Sidechat isn’t safe.
And yet, a vacuum has formed. Somehow, “travel” is just something you do or want because of others. It’s a way to take endless photos with friends, to not feel left out.
We think Penn has lost sight of why we travel in the first place: to see new worlds, to reflect, to grow as individuals, to understand ourselves and others better – among much else.
The Road Penn Traveled is a travel-themed, micro-creative-nonfiction publication dedicated to serving as the answer to that vacuum. Forget the polished Instagram posts. We’re trying to serve as a reminder of why we want to travel in the first place, of what “travel” really looks and feels like. (Spoiler: it’s not just an assortment of diverse and cleverly selected dispo photos.)
We promise not to take too much of your time, as a reader or writer.
150 words max per publication.
150 words and slip into one of our worlds, onto one of the roads we’ve walked.
We hope you join us on the mosaic of journeys and experiences we’re trying to capture. And lastly, we hope you enjoy the ride.
